OUI can help!

A gateway to learning French for students from outside Quebec

French is part of everyday life in Quebec and even a basic level can change the way you experience Montreal. It can help you connect with people and open doors to new opportunities.

Pathway 1: I have no knowledge of French

Enrol through Concordia's Department of French Studies. Some courses are on a Success/No Success basis, meaning they have no impact on your GPA! Eligible international and out-of-province students pay Quebec tuition rates for French courses.

Beginner level courses: FRAN 211 or FRAI 201

How to get started

Drop by LB-601 or email the department to schedule an appointment. They'll confirm that your French is at the beginner level so you can get started!

Pathway 2: I have a basic knowledge of French

Option 1

Enrol through Concordia's Department of French Studies.

You can choose a French course with Success/No Success grading. This allows you to focus on learning without impacting your GPA. Eligible students from outside Quebec may also find their tuition rates lowered.

How to get started

Determine your French level and get placed in a course that supports your goals. The department will contact you with the list of classes you qualify for and will give permission to enrol.

Option 2

Register for a course through Concordia Continuing Education’s French Communication Essentials program.

This is a non-credit course and is not eligible for French study fee exemptions.

How to register

Register online through Concordia Continuing Education.
