Skills Check
Get your French speaking and listening skills officially recognized at no cost. OUI got you covered!
Having your French recognized can support your studies, career and life in Quebec. Skills Check uses the Test d’évaluation du français (TEF) to check your French speaking and listening abilities.
Concordia covers the full cost of the exam ($230 for both components) for students who meet the Skills Check requirements.
Skills Check is for you if:
- You are a current undergraduate international or out-of-province student.
- You have basic French-language skills.
Discover the TEF
The TEF is a French evaluation generally used for immigration. You can also complete it to get an official recognition of your French speaking and listening skills.
The TEF checks your French in everyday and work situations through two parts:
1. Listening comprehension
You complete this part by answering multiple-choice questions.
- Duration: 40 minutes
- Format: 40 multiple-choice questions
2. Speaking expression
You complete this part in person with a certified examiner.
- Duration: 15 minutes
- Format: Two oral tasks evaluated by a certified examiner. Candidates must consent to having the interview audio recorded.
You must complete both parts in person on the same day.
