In memoriam services
Concordia offers support in times of need.
How we can help
The death of a Concordian can have a profound impact on our university community and can affect people in many different ways. Concordia is committed to responding with respect, sensitivity and compassion, and to providing resources to support community members affected by the loss of a friend or colleague.
To report the passing of an individual on campus or during a university event, please contact Campus Safety and Prevention Services immediately at (514) 848-2424 extension 3717.
For all other deaths of Concordia community members, please send an email to inmemoriam@concordia.ca.
From there, Concordia can provide advice and support, when appropriate. The university will also inform relevant members of the community and ensure that internal units are aware of their responsibilities.
Once the university has been advised of the passing of a community member, the Multi-faith and Spirituality Centre (MfSC) Chaplain and Coordinator mobilize units and departments across the university to respond in a well-coordinated and efficient manner. A Response Team is convened when necessary, and is responsible for leading, organizing and coordinating internal efforts.
Above all, the university is committed to responding to the death of one of its community members in a compassionate and sensitive manner. This includes respecting the privacy of the individual who has passed away, the wishes of their family and loves ones, and providing appropriate and comprehensive support to members of the Concordia community affected by this event.
