Resources during local and global crises
If a local or global crisis is affecting you, know that you are not alone. This page points you to key resources at Concordia to help you navigate challenging times.
Mental health and well-being
If you’re experiencing a mental health emergency, contact emergency services.
For immediate and ongoing mental health support:
- Request a mental health appointment.
- If you are covered by the CSU or GSA health plans, access tele-counselling services in multiple languages.
Academic accommodations
If a crisis is affecting your ability to complete your coursework or attend class:
- The short-term absence form allows you to request accommodations without documentation like a medical note.
- For additional or longer-term accommodations, start by talking to your professor. Learn more about academic accommodations, including what to do if you miss a final exam.
Wellbeing support
- The Multi-faith and Spirituality Centre offers compassionate spaces and spiritual care. Book an appointment or email mfsc@concordia.ca.
- CU Wellness offers wellness-focused activities and workshops.
Connections to community networks
- Many student groups provide tailored support to their members and the wider community, including groups for specific cultural or religious communities. Consult the list of student groups and reach out to them directly to learn more.
- The International Students Office understands the unique challenges of navigating life away from home and can provide support.
Financial resources
If a crisis affects your ability to cover essential expenses during your studies:
- Access emergency food resources.
- Reach out to the Financial Aid and Awards Office to explore your options together.
Support for staff and faculty
Faculty and staff also have access to dedicated support during difficult times.
- Mental health support is available through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
- If you are concerned about a student, learn how to guide them to appropriate support.
