MESSAGE FROM THE INCOMING VPSS

Michael Di Grappa

Michael Di Grappa

October 1, 2020 was my first day at Concordia University as Vice-President, Services & Sustainability after a ten-year absence. Already, Concordia had accomplished so much in the face of a pandemic that changed the way we study and work. And since then, the Services and Sustainability sector continues to respond to the needs of our community members as we enter 2021 and imagine what the landscape might look like once COVID-19 is behind us.

I am also proud to lead the Sustainability portfolio. The university has made great strides on this front and has the determination to do so much more! The Sustainability Action Plan, presented on November 3, 2020, provides a great overview of what we’ve done and where we intend to go. Continuing efforts, new initiatives and evolving programs have positioned us to be a sustainability leader among higher education institutions.

I wish to acknowledge Roger Côté and thank him for his tireless dedication to the university over the past thirty-nine years and the last ten as Vice-President, Services. He is retiring with a tremendous record of accomplishment and an indelible mark on this institution’s walls. His leadership, flawless professionalism and keen ability to always consider all members of the community has been a true strength for Concordia.

Much has happened in 2019-2020. Much will take place in 2020-2021. I am thrilled to join the university at such a transformational time. Though it might seem like a difficult time to re-join a group, the challenges of the pandemic have made it that much more evident that it is a privilege to return to Concordia and contribute to its success.

I look forward to working with you all.

Michael Di Grappa
Vice-President, Services & Sustainability
