Concordia promotes continuous learning for staff and faculty by offering a large array of professional development courses.

Tuition waiver

Eligible employees and their dependents can benefit from Concordia’s tuition waiver, which covers the cost of credit and non-credit courses taken at Concordia or at a recognized external university— subject to internal policies and procedures.

Human Resources-sponsored training

These training sessions and workshops offer employees valuable opportunities to develop their skills throughout their careers at Concordia. The Human Resources-sponsored training options are thoughtfully designed to help anticipate evolving ways of working, respond to the changing needs of the Concordia community and supports both professional and personal growth.

Campus Safety and Prevention Services are committed to promoting preparedness, and offer several training programs designed to better prepare individuals to deal with emergency situations both at home and in the workplace. Find out about available training opportunities.

The Centre for Teaching and Learning offers a broad range of services to both full-time and part-time faculty as well as graduate students, teaching assistants and staff. These include workshops on blended learning and teaching technologies, one-on-one consultations, new faculty orientations and seminars in university teaching. Learn more about the CTL.

Concordia Continuing Education offers a wide range of courses designed to support employees career goals. Topics include AI, cybersecurity, leadership, management, digital marketing, and more. Courses are not credited, but participants receive a certification confirming the completion of the training. Eligible Concordia faculty and staff may apply for a tuition waiver.

Through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Concordia faculty and staff can take part in free seminars on a variety of topics to help support their mental health and overall well-being.

Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) provides a wide range of safety programs and training open to faculty and staff with a valid Concordia ID.

The Equity Office develops educational opportunities that promote awareness of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility, and support the practical application of these principles within the campus community. These trainings also address common misconceptions and explore how bias, discrimination, power, and privilege operate in a university setting. View the list of Equity Office events.

Concordia provides a variety of French-language courses available to faculty and staff.

  • Concordia Continuing Education offers French learning focused on communication, ranging from elementary to high intermediate levels. With immersive and collaborative exercises, you'll learn to interact in French confidently in everyday life. For more information, please contact: cce.languages@concordia.ca. 

  • The Département d’études françaises undergraduate credited courses help you build strong French skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing and are designed for learners at all levels. Concordia employees must register as an independent student and then enroll themselves in the course of their choice. For more information, please contact: etfran.lang_lit@concordia.ca.

The Government of Québec offers free French courses to all persons 16 years of age and older who are living in Québec, who are not subject to mandatory school attendance and who wish to receive French learning services.

French courses at all levels are also offered Udemy (free for Concordia University students and staff).

 

The School of Graduate Studies, through GradProSkills, offers a series of workshops designed to support the development of graduate student employees, such as teaching and research assistants. These training opportunities help build core competencies in teaching at the university level, creating inclusive learning environments, academic communication, and research management. 

Concordia provides IT training to faculty, staff and students. Workshops range from the basic to advanced levels in applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Moodle Learning Management System, and are delivered through instructor-led workshops, online materials, demos and individual lessons. 

The Multi-faith and Spirituality Centre offers a community for students, staff and faculty, resources for faith and spiritual practice, spaces to study or relax and activities and workshops on campus. 

The Office of Sustainability is responsible for developing, coordinating, maintaining and enhancing sustainability-related initiatives, strategies and programs at Concordia. Employees can help advance Concordia’s Sustainability Action Plan through individual courses or a year-long applied volunteer experience. Records Management (RM) provides training and support faculty and staff with effective organizational tools, explanations of RM procedures and policies - including the submission of documents to Archives - and guidelines for email management. Learn more about the records management guidelines.

Concordia employees have access to Udemy, a self-paced learning platform that hosts thousands of instructional videos on a variety of topics, through Concordia’s Udemy Business subscription.
