A themed arts and science camp offered by Concordia University in exclusive partnership with Collège Stanislas Montréal.

Overview

Concordia's Arts and Science Day Camp offers an engaging educational experience and a stimulating English immersion environment.

Offered during the fall break, the camp includes two streams: elementary and 6e held at Collège Stanislas and a secondary program (5ème to 3ème) delivered at Concordia University's Sir George Williams (SGW) Campus in downtown Montreal.

  • Dates: Monday, October 26 to Friday, October 30, 2026
  • Fee: $450 per participant for the week
  • Registration period: September 10 to October 9, 2026.

Elementary and 6ème program 

Location

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Pre- and post-camp daycare services are available for the elementary program. You may register your child for these services during the registration process. 

Programming

Explore, create and discover! From engineering to natural sciences, participants explore, experiment and learn through hands-on activities. Through interactive experiences, children discover the world around them, develop critical thinking skills and enjoy an enriching English immersion experience.

Two programs are offered according to age group and grade level:

  • Ages 5-6: Grande Section (GS) and Cours Préparatoire (CP)
  • Ages 7-8: Grande Section (GS) and Cours Préparatoire (CP)Cours Élémentaire 1 & 2 (CE1, CE2)
  • Ages 9-11: Grande Section (GS) and Cours Préparatoire (CP)Cours Moyen 1 & 2 (CM1, CM2) and Grade 6

LEGO® and Building Challenges – Group 1 (GS and CP)

Can you build it? Will it stand? Can it go higher?

Children will be immersed in the fascinating world of LEGO® as they tackle exciting building challenges and explore engineering concepts such as gravity and structural stability. Their creativity and problem-solving skills will be put to the test.

Throughout the week, participants will explore:

  • Structures and stability
  • Gears, pulleys and levers
  • Vehicles and propulsion
  • Bridges and towers
  • Timed team challenges

Children keep their designs and plans, but not their constructions.

Environment – Group 2 (CE1 & CE2) and 3 (CM1 - CM2 - 6ème)

Nature in the city, from the ground to the sky.

Participants observe living systems, explore natural cycles, examine environmental impacts and develop solutions for a more sustainable future.

Throughout the week, children will explore topics such as:

  • Urban plants and wildlife, species identification and field observation
  • The water cycle and stream quality
  • Soil, compost and decomposition
  • Clean energy and green technology challenges developed in collaboration with Concordia University's Volt-Age Research Chair
  • Waste reduction, reuse and the life cycle of objects

Field trips may include visits to the Biosphere or the Montreal Insectarium, depending on the week.

Secondary program (5ème to 3ème)

Programming

Whether they are passionate about the environment, digital arts or STEAM projects, participants will enjoy a unique immersive experience that combines discovery, creativity and learning.

Led by specialists and inspired by the university environment, these programs help young people develop skills, curiosity and confidence while having fun.

Two dynamic programs are offered for students in Secondary 3, 4 and 5 (ages 12 to 15).

Environment

The same questions explored by younger campers, approached with the tools and mindset of a researcher. Analyze, measure, debate and take action.

Throughout the week, participants delve deeper into a range of environmental topics, including:

  • Biodiversity, food chains and ecosystem dynamics, from local habitats to global environmental systems
  • Field investigations and data collection, including water quality, soil analysis and vegetation surveys
  • Critical exploration of green technologies and sustainable energy solutions, informed by research from Concordia University's Volt-Age Research Chair
  • Hands-on projects such as urban biodiversity mapping, environmental impact analysis and reflection on climate policies

STEAMpunk

Design, build, test and present. A collaborative project where science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics come together to bring ideas to life.

Working in small teams, participants take a project from concept to presentation through every stage of the design process:

  • Research and problem definition
  • Computer-aided design (CAD)
  • Prototype development and testing
  • Project documentation and final presentation guided by Concordia facilitators

Depending on the week and available resources, the program may also include a visit to a campus laboratory or an opportunity to meet a Concordia researcher.
