Eligibility and residency

Concordia Summer Camps are open to children and youth aged 5 to 17, regardless of their province or country of residence.

Medical insurance is mandatory: All participants must be covered by valid medical insurance. This includes: a RAMQ card (for Quebec residents), provincial health coverage from another Canadian province or private insurance that covers medical care in Quebec (for international visitors or temporary residents)

Proof of insurance is required at the time of registration.

In the event of a medical emergency, any costs not covered by health insurance will be the responsibility of parents or guardians.

Language

Our camps are held mainly in English. However, activities and communications are bilingual. We welcome an equal number of English-speaking and French-speaking families, and our bilingual staff accompany kids in both languages.

Arrival & departure

If your child arrives independently, they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the first morning of camp. The child must sign the attendance sheet upon arrival.

Any child arriving after 9:15 a.m. must follow the late-arrival procedure explained at the site entrance. In case of delay, please contact the local camp team.

Yes, if your child is 10 years of age or older and you have completed the appropriate section in the registration questionnaire.

For independent departure, you must also notify the camp in writing at summercamps@concordia.ca. The child must sign the attendance sheet upon arrival and departure.

Yes, but you must notify the camp by email at summercamps@concordia.ca. The person must present photo identification before leaving with the child. If an unauthorized person arrives, we will contact the primary contact to obtain authorization.

Late fees of $5 per 5-minute interval will be charged for any delay not caused by the departure procedure (e.g., waiting line).

Yes. Please inform staff upon your child’s arrival or email the camp team directly. A waiting period may be required depending on the time of day (e.g., after swimming periods or during off-site outings).

Meals & snacks

No. Children must bring their own lunch and snacks. Two snack breaks are scheduled each day. Your child will be more active than at school and may have a bigger appetite—please pack enough food.

Lunches must be packed in an insulated bag with an ice pack. No refrigerators or microwaves are available on site. Foods that require reheating or refrigeration should not be brought.

No. To reduce waste, please use reusable plastic containers. Glass bottles and thermoses are prohibited for safety reasons.

Yes. Your child must bring a reusable plastic water bottle labelled with their name.

Children’s medical files are reviewed prior to camp.

Measures in place include:

  • children may not share food to prevent allergic reactions;
  • if food is provided by the camp, allergy lists are checked; campers with severe allergies must carry their EpiPen at all times;
  • campers with moderate to severe allergies will be given a colour-coded wristband to wear all week (water-resistant);
  • a fixed seating area is assigned during meals to facilitate supervision.

You may receive targeted communication if specific allergens are present in the camp or your child’s group.

Health & safety

In the event of an incident or accident, camp management will contact you as quickly as possible.

  • Minor injury: Information will be shared with the person picking up the child at the end of the day.
  • Serious injury: The designated emergency contact will be contacted immediately. First aid will be administered using appropriate protective equipment.

In the event of an evacuation due to a power outage or any other reason requiring camp cancellation, our team will contact you and you will be required to pick up your child within the specified timeframe.

Contact the camp team immediately by phone (number and extension to be confirmed) or by email at summercamps@concordia.ca

In the event of a serious emergency, call 911.

Yes. At registration, you must provide all relevant medical information about your child in the medical file (allergies, medical conditions, medications, etc.).

It is your responsibility to inform the camp team by email (summercamps@concordia.ca) of any significant updates (new allergy, new medication, fracture, sprain, etc.).

No. Camp access will be refused if your child presents one or more of the following symptoms: fever of 39°C (102.2°F) or higher, diarrhea or vomiting, pale skin, redness, rashes, or physical pain. If your child develops these symptoms during camp, you must pick them up immediately.

Concordia University may require a doctor’s note confirming that the child can safely participate fully in camp activities.

Yes, but written parental/guardian consent, a copy of a valid prescription, and a completed medical authorization form are required.

Prescription medication must be provided in its original container with the child’s name, prescription date, physician’s name, dosage, and medication name. Each morning, medication must be handed directly to the designated staff member.

Over-the-counter medication (e.g., Tylenol, Advil) will not be administered without written authorization.

Depending on age, your child must carry it at all times in a waist pouch. Camp coordination staff and the counsellor must be informed.

Yes. It is essential that your child wear their MedicAlert bracelet at all times while at camp.

Your child must arrive at camp with sunscreen already applied and bring their own sunscreen for reapplication during the day. For safety reasons, children must apply sunscreen independently. Staff monitor and ensure proper application (arms, legs, face, ears, neck, etc.).

Due to allergy concerns, the camp does not provide sunscreen. In exceptional cases, management has PABA-free (hypoallergenic) sunscreen available if a child forgets or loses theirs.

If lice or intestinal worms are discovered, parents will be contacted and asked to pick up their child promptly. Return to camp will only be permitted after appropriate treatment. Access may be refused if lice, nits, or worms persist.

Personal items

Lost items are kept on site for the duration of the summer. Unclaimed items are donated to a charitable organization. If an item is labelled, we will attempt to contact parents for retrieval.

No. The camp is not responsible for personal belongings, and electronic devices are not recommended.
