Vanier Library and Vanier Extension roof and skylight repairs

The project will address water infiltration and support long-term performance.

Project overview

Concordia is carrying out repairs to the roof and skylights of the Vanier Library (VL) Building and the Vanier Extension (VE) to address active water infiltration and protect the building from future leaks.

The work will focus on repairing and replacing select skylights, as well as targeted roof repairs in areas affected by water infiltration. Improvements will also be made to support safe access for future maintenance activities.

Timeline

July to September 2026

What to expect during construction

The VL Building will remain open and accessible throughout the project, with most work taking place on the exterior of the building.

The main entrance to the Georges P. Vanier Library will be temporarily closed during scheduled crane operations. Advance notice will be provided before these activities take place.

Some areas directly beneath the skylights will be temporarily closed for safety reasons while work is underway. The library will remain open, although the interior staircase will be temporarily unavailable during the skylight replacement later in the project. Courses scheduled in affected classrooms will be relocated in advance.

When necessary, service interruptions and work outside the project area will be coordinated with building users to minimize disruptions.
