Vanier Extension

The original Vanier Library Building (1964) has been called the Vanier Extension since the new Vanier Library opened in 1989. During the spring and summer of 2005 the second and third floors (3,257 sq. metres) of the older building were renovated and refitted to accommodate the specific needs of the Department of Applied Human Sciences. The new facilities include digitally equipped multi-functional classrooms that can be set up for traditional teaching, workshops, or seminars.

Applied Human Sciences moved from inadequate quarters in the F annex on Bishop Street and other spaces on both campuses. The Arts and Science departments that were housed in the Vanier Extension have now been consolidated with the rest of their departments.

In the summer of 2007 the upper floors of the attached Vanier Library Building were renovated to accommodate the Master of Fine Arts programs that vacated the FS and Bourget Academy facilities downtown.
