About the program

Leeds International Summer School (LISS) combines world-class tuition and academic field trips with exciting excursions and social events. Choose from a diverse range of academic modules, meet interesting people from around the world and immerse yourself in British culture and society. LISS has a busy social programme to help you make the most of your time in Leeds and the UK. The programme fee includes orientation activities, a farewell social and one full-day excursion per block.

Block 1: 4 July, 2026 to 18 July, 2026

Block 2: 19 July, 2026 to 1 August, 2026

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to participate in the Leeds International Summer School you must meet the following criteria.

  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program at Concordia. 
  • Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (CGPA).
  • Completed at a minimum of 24 credits toward your current degree program by the time you leave for the program.

Program courses

LISS runs for four weeks and is made up of two blocks, each lasting two weeks. You’ll study one module per block. 

If you’re applying for the full four-week programme, you should select one module from our block 1 modules and one module from our block 2 modules. If you’re applying for the two-week programme, you should select one module from your chosen block.

JMSB students

JMSB students can take the following University of Leeds summer courses from the above-mentioned module blocks.

Credit Transfer

Each module is worth 10 Leeds credits, so by completing the four-week programme, you’ll receive 20 Leeds credits. This is the equivalent to 6 US or 10 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits.

Fees

  • Full four-week programme: £4,095

  • Two-week programme (either block one or block two): £2,250

The programme fee includes: 

  • tuition 
  • accommodation  
  • breakfast and lunch, Monday to Friday 
  • module field trips
  • weekend excursions 
  • social activities
  • The Edge sports centre premium membership (state-of-the-art indoor sports facility, is included in the LISS programme fee. The Edge has a 250-station fitness suite, a 25m swimming pool, sauna and steam room and more than 70 classes per week.)
  • Leeds University also offers free transport service to the University from Manchester Airport and Leeds Bradford Airport during the LISS arrival period. Leeds will send full details of how to book the transport service to LISS offer holders in May.

Additional costs: Participants are responsible for paying their own airfare, meals, spending money, accommodations, books, immigration documents, optional social activities.

 

Quebec Mobility Bursary:

To help with the costs of going abroad, Concordia offers a $1,125 CAD Quebec Mobility Bursary for students participating in Block 1 and a $1,050 CAD Quebec Mobility Bursary for students participating in Block 2.

To qualify, you must be a Concordia student enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree program and approved to participate in the summer school program. 

Important to note:

  • Summer school program applicants do not need to submit a bursary application as it is part of the on-line summer school program application, and you will automatically be considered for the Quebec Mobility Bursary.
  • Approved students will receive the bursary payment upon arrival and reception of the mandatory Confirmation of Arrival form.
  • Details on the payment of the bursary will be sent to successful applicants.

Accommodations

As a summer school student, you’ll be accommodated in one of Leed University’s halls of residence. For LISS 2026, you’ll likely live in Montague Burton, a University residence right next to campus. However, please note that accommodation allocation is subject to capacity and availability. 

You’ll have the privacy of your own room but share bathroom, kitchen and dining facilities with other summer school students.  

Breakfast and lunch are included from Monday to Friday. The kitchens have cooking facilities, but if you don’t feel like cooking for yourself, there are lots of places to eat on campus and hundreds of cafes and restaurants in the city centre.
