One shift that I am particularly interested in is how we are starting to broaden the type of issues we consider in investing. We are now looking at biodiversity and social issues and how they affect our investments.

Career questions with Karine

What do you love most about your work, and what inspired you to pursue this career in the first place?

The possibility to explore a new and emerging field but also to truly have an impact. Most of all, I love the ability to educate people about the impact they can have with their money. Finance is an interesting and fast-moving industry so it made sense to continue in this journey.

Looking back, what skills have been the biggest gamechangers in your career?

Communication, by far. The ability to analyze and interpret data, then present it in a way that feels accessible rather than intimidating to help people understand an issue.

How did Concordia prepare you for your career?

Concordia has an amazing student community and many student groups, which I was actively involved in. I also worked on campus which allowed me to meet amazing staff members who supported me and introduced me to opportunities I didn't know existed.

What is a standout memory from your time at Concordia?

I have so many but the biggest was probably winning the Sustainability Champion award in 2023.

If you could give your younger self one powerful piece of advice, what would it be?

Follow your intuition.
