Masha Bashmakova

Masha (she/they) is a theatre artist based in Tiotia:ke / Montreal. She works as an actor, director, and creator of theatrical work. 

Masha Bashmakova is a director, performer, and theatre creator, with a background in devised theatre. Born in Russia, raised in the United Arab Emirates, and currently based in Tio'tia:ke (Montreal), they are curious about the ways in which language, place and worldview impact the ways in which we tell stories. A graduate of Concordia’s Performance Creation program, she has since been deeloping creation projects through residencies with Batiment 7, Infinitheatre, and Maison de la Culture; building her practice as an arts educator with GTS and the Segal Academy; and continuing her training abroad with ArtHaus Berlin and the Grotowski Institute in Poland. Right now Masha is on the road as a performer with Geordie Theatre and their 2023-2024 2PlayTour. Recent credits include Windy / Young Hearts Theatre (actor); The Rishta / Silk Road Institute and Centaur Theatre (director); Transplant S3 / CTV (Actor); Psycho 6 / Teesri Duniya Theatre (Production Manager).
