Arlo Gross

Arlo Gross is a PhD candidate in Film and Moving Image Studies at Concordia University. They hold a BA in English Literature from University College London and completed their MA in Children's Literature, Media, and Culture at the University of Glasgow. Their research explores the triangulation of queerness, pregnancy, and body horror. They are currently working on an SSHRC funded project in collaboration with the Mostra Internacional de Films de Dones de Barcelona (Barcelona's International Women's Film Festival), translating festival archives from Catalan to English. Other activities include applying to international conferences as an excuse to travel and talk about pop culture -- Scooby-Doo as Gothic media, creepy children in 1960s-70s horror, queer linguistics in Titane, or the teen girl gaze in Twilight.
