Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Regardless of whether you are on campus, have recently been on campus or have never been to campus, you should always follow these two steps:
- Contact your supervisor, professor or chair. All supervisors, professors and chairs are aware of the proper procedures and whom to contact. They will guide you through the steps you must take and help you along the way.
- Complete the COVID-19 Self-isolation form. Once you are home, you must complete the COVID-19 Self-isolation form on your MyConcordia portal. The university will then transmit all of the required information to the appropriate units, including Human Resources and Environmental Health and Safety.

Yes. The provincial government does not restrict travel for work, academic and research purposes. However, only faculty, staff and students engaged in authorized in-person activities and those accessing the Library are authorized to be on campus.
There is no ban on travelling from one region or city to another, but everyone should avoid non-essential travel. The provincial government is asking Quebecers in red zones to refrain from travelling to regions that are not as hard hit by the health crisis. However, this advisory does not apply if you are travelling for work or school.
For more information, please consult the provincial government’s Map of COVID-19 alert levels by region.
No, you cannot come to work even if you are asymptomatic. Although Quebec Public Health does not currently impose workplace restrictions on individuals who are asymptomatic and awaiting test results for their dependents, Concordia chooses to follow a more protective approach. This approach is consistent with guidelines implemented by other regulatory bodies, including the Public Health Agency of Canada.
While waiting for the test results, please fill out the self-isolation form on your MyConcordia portal.
If your child receives a negative test result, you can regain your access to campus by completing the Self-Evaluation Pledge again. If your child receives a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, Public Health will instruct you to stay home and self-isolate for a specific period of time, given that you and your child are members of the same household. In this instance, you must complete the self-isolation form again on your MyConcordia portal with the updated information, as per the university’s procedure.

The employee who developed COVID-19 symptoms must put on a procedure mask — or face covering if one is not available — and maintain physical distance from others. Call Security (514-848-3717, or internal ext. 3717), inform their supervisor and then return home. Once home, they must contact Public Health, who will likely require that they get tested. Once home, the employee must complete Concordia’s self-Isolation Form on their MyConcordia portal.
Supervisors must contact Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) at 4877 or ehs@concordia.ca, who will initiate a suspected COVID-19 case investigation immediately. EHS staff will speak to the employee to collect information, including a list of locations they visited on campus and the names of individuals they were in contact with on campus within 48 hours of developing COVID-19 symptoms.
If the employee receives a negative COVID-19 diagnosis, no action is taken with co-workers or other individuals the employee came into contact with while on campus. Supervisors must not notify their department or other employees. EHS staff will provide instructions on next steps while waiting for test results.
In the event that the employee is COVID-19 positive, EHS staff will provide all the information they collected to Public Health.

In the event that the person is COVID-19 positive, EHS staff will provide all the information they collected to Public Health, who will perform their own independent investigation.
EHS staff will evaluate each self-isolation report and may contact you to collect information on your particular situation, including clarification on the reason for your self-isolation. Based on your specific situation, EHS may also communicate with your contacts and provide them with instructions.
If you are advised to self-isolate you must inform your supervisor/professor that you will not be reporting to campus but do not need to provide personal medical information. While self-isolating, if you are unable to work from home, you must advise your supervisor as you would normally for a sick leave.
Human Resources may also contact employees who are self-isolating in order to manage the sick leave portion of the self-isolation.
