Ashley Miller was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, and attended Arizona State University for her undergraduate studies. Upon receiving her M.F.A.from Louisiana State University, in Baton Rouge, she moved to Montreal in 1982. In her early years living in Montreal, Ashley was an active member of several artist-run centres, including Powerhouse and Galerie Interaction. Since then, she has exhibited her work widely at university museums, private and artist-run galleries in Canada and the United States. She began teaching fine art at Concordia in 1986, where she continues to work as a part-time faculty member in the Fibres program. She has also taught at Champlain College since 1987, where she is a full-time, tenured professor in Creative Arts.
