Biography
Montreal-based artist and composer Georges Dimitrov holds a doctorate from the Université de Montréal and currently teaches at Concordia University, where he leads the Composition and Production, Songwriting and Performance programs. He is also the coordinator of the Faculty of Fine Arts Interdisciplinary Studies, where he teaches The Music and Art of David Bowie.
His creative work seeks innovation and experimentation, crossing boundaries between contemporary music, underground rock, electronic music, film scoring, and video game music.
On the one hand, he is active as a rock and electronic musician under the name Hyperprisme, works as a DJ, and was formerly co-host of Guerre Froide on CISM 89.3 FM, a radio program dedicated to cutting-edge cold-wave, minimal synth, and post-punk.
On the other hand, he has received commissions from ensembles such as the Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal, the Orchestre Symphonique de l’Isle, La Machine, Arkea, and Quatrix, and has collaborated on several short films and documentaries. He also served as president of the Société québécoise de recherche en musique (SQRM) until 2019.
