Biography

Zhijie Wang received his Ph.D. in Software Engineering from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Alberta, in 2025. During his Ph.D., he was also affiliated with the Alberta Machine Learning Institute (Amii). He received his master's degree from the University of Waterloo in 2021.
His research focuses on quality assurance for AI software systems with software engineering techniques and human factors. His work probes the intersection of Software Engineering (SE) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), and has led to publications at top-tier venues in both fields (e.g., ICSE, FSE, CHI, TSE, and TOSEM). He was a recipient of the ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Award at FSE 2023. You can find more about him on his personal website.
