Biography
Joseph Siddiqi is an artist and educator working in painting and drawing. His paintings have been shown in solo exhibitions in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary and Montreal, as well as in group exhibitions across Canada and in the United States. He has been awarded grants for his work by the Concordia University Part-time Faculty Association, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, and the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation. His work can be found in public and private collections, including the Canada Council Art Bank in Ottawa, Colart Collection in Montreal, and Athabasca University Art Collection in Northern Alberta. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from Concordia University and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Boston University.
Contemplative Pedagogy
Joseph participated in the Centre for Teaching and Learning’s Contemplative Pedagogies initiative, completing the 8-week Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) training program for Concordia faculty and staff.
He was also active in the Faculty of Fine Arts’ Mindful Campus initiative, completing the 13-week Mindfulness for Resilience Program (MRP) and 10-week MRP National Teacher Training Intensive, becoming certified to deliver this mindfulness-based program specifically designed for university art and design students.
As a facilitator he has led mindfulness-based workshops and practice sessions for Concordia faculty, staff, and students.
