About the project

The Lavenham condominium project entails the construction of a 9-storey concrete condominium on vacant land in James Bay, Victoria, BC. The building is situated within a 100-meter radius of a protected park (Beacons Hill Park), an elementary school, residential buildings, and a playground, with their respective users being considered as stakeholders. It is also worth noting that the condominium is located on the traditional territories of the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nation People.

According to Statistics Canada, the neighbourhood has experienced a population increase of 9.79% from 2016 to 2021, with families with young children and senior citizens accounting for a significant proportion of the growth. Therefore, the challenge is to provide housing for the increasing population while simultaneously ensuring a safe space and healthy environment for the community (incl. the elders and the kids), without engaging in urban sprawl or damaging the environment.
