Matthias Domingo Mushinski

Matthias is a PhD candidate in Film and Moving Image Studies at Concordia University where his teaching and research experiment with ways of increasing our susceptibility to black music. With regards to cinema, he is primarily concerned with film form and its ontological consequences, which cause him to contemplate the distinction—or lack thereof—between montage and ensemble. In 2020 he completed a curatorial residency at the Institute of Contemporary Art (UPenn) hosted by the Dakar-based arts organization RAW Material Company where he studied under the direction of Linda Goode Bryant, Arthur Jafa, Louis Massiah, Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, and Marie Hélène Pereira.
