Philipp Dominik Keidl

Assistant Professor of Screen Media in Transition in the Department of Media and Culture Studies at Utrecht University

Philipp Dominik Keidl is Assistant Professor of Screen Media in Transition in the Department of Media and Culture Studies at Utrecht University. He is PI of the NOW-funded project “When Queer Cinema Came to Germany” and co-coordinator of MI3: Media Industries, Infrastructures, and Institutions. His work on media fandom, media industries, film heritage, and material culture is published in JCSM: Journal of Cinema and Media Studies, Journal of Popular Culture, Film Criticism, The Moving Image, and American Behavioral Scientist. In addition, he edited various journal issues and essay collections, including Institutionalizing Moving Image Archival Training (with Christian Gosvig Olesen), Pandemic Media (with Laliv Melamed, Vinzenz Hediger, and Antonio Somaini), Fandom Histories (with Abby Waysdorf), and Platforms and the Moving Image (with Jana Zündel). Philipp is currently finishing his monograph, Plastic Heritage: Fans and the Making of History.
