Career questions with Abdallah

What do you love most about your work, and what inspired you to pursue this career in the first place?

What I love most about my work is the combination of flexibility, travel benefits and the autonomy to shape how I deliver results. I was inspired to pursue this path because I’ve always been passionate about public affairs and building connections between organizations and the communities they serve.

Looking back, what skills have been the biggest gamechangers in your career?

Strong leadership and research skills have been key game changers in my career. Equally important has been my ability to ask thoughtful questions and take the time to reflect before acting. These skills have helped me better understand complex situations, make informed decisions and build trust with stakeholders.

How did Concordia prepare you for your career?

Concordia prepared me well through its strong emphasis on research, critical reading and real-world challenges. The academic environment encouraged me to think analytically and approach problems from multiple perspectives. This foundation has been valuable in navigating complex professional environments.

What is a standout memory from your time at Concordia?

One of my standout memories is being part of student groups that created a supportive and engaging community. I also valued the classroom experience, where we could openly debate ideas and have thoughtful, meaningful discussions. Those moments helped shape both my perspective and confidence.

If you could give your younger self one powerful piece of advice, what would it be?

Seek advice early and often. Don’t hesitate to reach out to mentors, professors, and peers; people are usually more willing to help than you think. Learning from others’ experiences can save you time, open doors, and give you perspectives you might not discover on your own.

What’s the most exciting shift happening in your industry right now?

The aviation industry is constantly evolving, especially in response to global political and regional developments, which impact global transportation routes. What’s exciting is how organizations like Air Canada adapt quickly, with highly trained teams that ensure operations remain safe, efficient and resilient despite these challenges.
