Mia Anhoury

BA 19

Mia is a lawyer-investigator and advisor with Latitude in Montreal, where she acts as a neutral and impartial third party in a variety of mandates, including psychological and sexual harassment complaints. After graduating from Concordia with a BA in Journalism and a Minor in Spanish, Hispanic Cultures and Literatures, she earned a Bachelor of Law from Université de Montréal. While in law school, she worked as a notarial paralegal and with Pro Bono Students Canada and the Centre for Research-Action on Race Relations. Before pursuing law, she reported on local current affairs for the Montreal Gazette and CBC Montreal. In 2019, Mia was part of a collaborative investigative team of journalists from Concordia’s Institute for Investigative JournalismGlobal News, the Toronto Star, and Le Devoir. Their work revealed that 33 per cent of roughly 12,000 Canadian tap water samples collected since 2014 exceeded Health Canada’s lead guidelines. The investigation prompted many municipalities to respond and take steps to improve drinking water quality. A proud Concordia alumna, she also completed an academic exchange in Spain at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
