Former Ambassador Robert William Peck

Former Ambassador Peck built a distinguished 35-year career in the Canadian Foreign Service and Global Affairs Canada. He served as Ambassador to Algeria (2004-2007), then as Ambassador of Canada to the Hellenic Republic and High Commissioner to the Republic of Cyprus (2011-2015). In Ottawa, he held senior positions including Chief of Protocol of Canada (2007-2010) and Press Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (1993-1995). His diplomatic achievements earned him Greece's Grand Commander of the Order of the Phoenix in 1998.
Post-diplomacy, he served on the boards of Energean PLC and the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, and led major fundraising campaigns, notably to renovate the Canadian Institute in Greece. As a Philhellene he remains committed to deepening Canada-Greece ties through active philanthropy and leadership in The Hellenic Initiative Canada and The Toronto Economic Forum. In 2024, he chaired the organizing committee for the Toronto community event honoring the visit to Canada by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. In 2025, he was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Hellenic Heritage Foundation. He is a long-time member of the board of directors of the Michaƫlle Jean Foundation. Throughout his career, he has championed cultural diplomacy initiatives and major Canadian investments abroad. He continues to be a mentor to members of Canada's Foreign Service and young professionals.
