Valerie-Micaela Bain

Valerie-Micaela is a versatile and accomplished journalist who has spent nearly two decades reporting for Radio-Canada. After earning her journalism degree from Concordia, she began her career in Manitoba in 2006, where a short-term contract with Radio-Canada quickly became a permanent role. Over six years, she reported on major court cases, historic floods, and issues affecting Indigenous Peoples and francophone communities. Since moving to Montreal in 2012, Bain has covered major national and international stories for the public broadcaster, including the Tokyo and Beijing Olympic Games. In 2022, she reported from Washington, D.C., on historic U.S. Supreme Court decisions including the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Bain also served as a parliamentary correspondent in Ottawa, before returning to Montreal in 2024 to work primarily reporting for Le Téléjournal 18h. She has since covered the courthouse beat, the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the 2025 federal election, and the 2025 municipal elections in Quebec. Fluent in French and English, Bain is a former Concordia Stingers basketball player who brings discipline and perspective to her journalism.
