Salim Valji

Salim is an accomplished bilingual sports journalist based in Calgary, Alberta. After graduation, Salim was associate producer and statistician for TSN/RDS (2017-2020), coordinating Montreal Canadiens regional broadcasts and providing statistical support to broadcasters across North America. He then served as TSN's Calgary Bureau Reporter (2020-2025), covering the Flames, Stampeders, and stories of national interest—regularly appearing on SportsCentre, That's Hockey, TSN Radio, CTV News Channel, and providing French-language analysis on RDS and BPM Sports Radio. In June 2020, Salim broke the news of the creation of the Hockey Diversity Alliance for The New York Times, establishing himself as a leading voice on diversity and inclusion in hockey. At Concordia, he was the recipient of the Sportsnet Award in Journalism and the Rogers Media Award in Sports Journalism. Salim is currently writing Trials On Ice, spotlighting hockey's trailblazers and inclusion advocates, set for publication in Winter 2027.
