WHU MBA European Summer Program

A two-week  course designed for MBA students of WHU's partner schools in their second year who are interested in International Business, Finance, and Corporate Strategy. The program offers a targeted and compact insight into international business in Europe, with a well-balanced combination of lectures and group work.

About the program

The WHU MBA European Summer Program comprises a two-week course on 'The Changing Environment for International Business in Europe' on the attractive campus in Vallendar, located just outside of Koblenz in the valley of the Rhine River. The program is designed for MBA students of WHU's partner schools in their second year who are interested in International Business, Finance, and Corporate Strategy. As an alternative to an exchange semester, the program offers a targeted and compact insight into international business in Europe. It offers a well-balanced combination of lectures, group work, company visits, and cultural experiences. 

Program dates

The next program will take place in May 2023, and students may participate in one of two available sessions:

Session 1: May 9, 2023 - May 23, 2023 

Session 2: May 14, 2023- May 26, 2023

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to participate in the WHU "The Changing Environment for International Business in Europe" program, you must meet the following criteria.

  • Be enrolled in the MBA degree program at Concordia. 
  • Completed at a minimum of 24 credits toward your current degree program by the time you leave for the program.
  • Be registered as a full-time status student at Concordia.
  • Minimum CGPA: 3.0.

Program courses

The program is taught in English and comprises 48 academic hours (equivalent to three credits) plus around 22 contact hours of a cultural program (equivalent to two credits). Students must create a Credit Transfer Request to submit to their faculty for credit transfer approval prior to leaving for the program.

  • Business Environment and Strategies of FDI Investors in Central and Eastern Europe
  • Entrepreneurship from a European Perspective
  • The Relevance of Family Businesses in Europe
  • Raising Capital in European Capital Markets

Estimated costs & bursary

Host institution fees: €489.00 to be paid directly to WHU. These fees include:

  • Course materials
  • Group transfer service to/from airport
  • Welcome reception and farewell dinner
  • Lunches
  • Company visits and social excursions
  • Local bus ticket
  • 24-hour gym access
  • On campus wi-fi
  • Library Access

Concordia Tuition: 3 credits of Concordia tuition to be paid to Concordia University. Get an estimate of tuition fees.

Additional costs: Students are responsible for paying for and selecting their own transportation to/from Germany; mandatory health and travel insurance; meals besides those included; any travel documents you may need (i.e. passports and maybe visas); and cost for housing (see below).

Quebec Mobility Bursary: Concordia International offers a $1125 CDN to students who qualify.  For more information on the bursary, visit the Concordia International funding webpage.

Accommodations

Housing in single rooms costs between €350 and €425 for two weeks. These costs are in addition to base and tuition fees (€489). After you indicate your housing preferences in our registration form, our housing team will send you an email with payment details.
