Teaching activities

Erin Flynn is interested in the intersection of technical training and the creative process. Informed by a variety of somatic, creative and technical approaches, Flynn’s classes are a setting for dancers to explore, hone and skillfully transmit the sensations of their bodies moving in space.

Erin’s class begins with a thorough warm up that builds strength, alignment and awareness through movement. Shorter sequences drawing on ballet and contemporary vocabulary work full range of movement, stabilization and the ability to move fluidly through space. Improvisation structures exploring different physical states and playing with group dynamics are also interspersed to help dancers warm up creatively and practice collaborating collectively.
