Biography

Sarah was born and raised in Montreal. When not working with students at Concordia, Sarah spends the balance of her time directing and creating plays as well as working dramaturgically on new plays.

Sarah founded her first theatre in Kingston, Ontario in 1985. The Baby Grand has since become an integral part of Kingston's cultural landscape. Following this Sarah founded Die in Debt Theatre that produced (and for which she directed) 3 massive and celebrated productions in Toronto of Romeo and Juliet (Under the Bathurst Street Bridge), Oedipus (under the Gardiner Expressway and written by Ned Dickens) and Megatropolis.  Previously Sarah was Artistic Director of Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, Inaugural Associate Artist at The Magnetic North Theatre Festival, and Associate Director at The Factory Theatre.

Recent Directing highlights include the highly acclaimed Michel & ti Jean by George Rideout at the Centaur Theatre in Montreal, The Mill: The Woods by Tara Beagan with Theatrefront in Toronto, The Oracle at Gros Morne by Berni Stapleton at Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador and The Book of Judith by Michael Rubenfeld and Sarah Stanley. Sarah has worked on new plays in every province of Canada and hopes to continue to discover the stories this country has to tell for years to come.
