Biography

Miriam Cummings is a theatre artist based primarily in Tiohtià:ke (Montréal) and co-founder of Hopegrown Productions. Miriam created and performed The One, a solo show which was developed with support from Playwright’s Workshop Montréal (PWM). The One had a sold-out run at the Montréal Fringe Festival (2019) and won Most Promising English Company (Segal Centre).

A graduate of Concordia University's Acting program, she has since trained with Tectonic Theater Project (Moment Work™). A lifelong learner, Miriam currently studies and works with the Moving Voice Institute and Tempest Theatre & Film Society. Miriam teaches acting and devising to adults of all ages, guiding them toward a strong sense of personal presence and self-confidence. She is an advocate for psychological actor safety and formal theatre training reform.
