Awards & Distinctions

Gaétan Lefebvre has patched up some of the best players the Montreal Canadiens have ever had. Thanks largely to his EMBA from Concordia’s John Molson School of Business, he’s now running one of the only companies in the world that provides software-based services to professional and amateur sports leagues and teams to help them manage player injuries and health.

Lefebvre began his tenure with the Montreal Canadiens in 1974, as a part-time assistant to legendary trainer Eddy Palchak while completing his undergraduate studies at Concordia. In 1981, he became a certified athletic therapist for the Montreal Canadiens Hockey Club, serving as assistant athletic therapist from 1981 to 1988, and promoted to head therapist in 1989.

Lefebvre had the honor of being part of the 1986 and 1993 Stanley Cup teams and was the athletic trainer for the Canada Cup Tournaments from 1981 through 1984 and in 1987.

In 2000, Lefebvre became special assistant to the player development sector, overseeing the medical documentation of newly drafted players and draft candidates for the Canadiens.

After leaving the Canadiens in 2003, Lefebvre transitioned into the corporate world. He earned his EMBA from the John Molson School of Business in 2006.

In 2005, he co-founded Sutton Medical Systems, now known as Athlete RMS, a provider of software-based health and injury management systems for professional and amateur sports leagues worldwide. He now serves as its chief operating officer.

Lefebvre received the Concordia University Alumni Association’s MBA Alumnus of the Year Award in 2026.
