Emily Thomas

Sculpture and Ceramics

Emily's work explores the intersections between architecture, place, and community, often responding sculpturally to housing systems and their complex histories. Her projects begin with a combination of research and practical work, examining how built environments embody lived experiences, power structures, and conflicts between the ideal and reality. Through careful selection of form, material, and colour, Emily translates these dynamics into fragmented sculptural works that reinterpret historical layers in a contemporary context.

Emily Thomas is an emerging visual artist and woodworker based in Berlin. She is currently studying for an MFA in Public Art and New Artistic Strategies at Bauhaus University, Germany, and is an exchange student in Concordia University’s Studio Arts MFA program.

Emily holds a BA in Fine Art from the University of the Arts London and has participated in exhibitions internationally, including at the Saatchi Gallery (London), Soulangh Cultural Park (Taiwan), and the Centre for Art and Urbanism (Berlin). Her work has been supported by the European Cultural Foundation, Arts Council England, and Stiftung Kunstfonds.
