Alexandre Prince

Alexandre Prince holds a BA in History from Université Laval, and now an MA in Media Studies from Concordia University. His scholarly work draws from fashion studies, decolonial theory, and discard studies by looking at non-Western systems of dress in order to reform our relationship to clothing production and consumption.

For his thesis, Alexandre looked at strategies of resistance against waste colonialism in East African countries. Additionally, he was also a member of the ageing + communication + technologies research project, where he set fashion aside to look at disability studies and inclusive pedagogies.

Thesis title: La Mode des Milles Collines: gathering critical perspectives on the globalized fashion industry from Kigali’s design scene following the nationwide secondhand clothing ban
