Biography

Teaches in both first and second-year Civilization courses (Antiquity to late Nineteenth Century), and occasionally in the History of Music. His research interests are primarily in the history of European ideas, mainly nineteenth century, and he has published widely in journals such as the International Review of Social History, Journal of the History of Ideas, History of Education, Paedagogica Historica, History of Education Quarterly, and the Dictionary of Labour Biography.

He has previously served as Principal of the College, and also as Director of the Graduate Program in Educational Studies and of the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Humanities.
