The time in university really does fly by, so take in every single moment!

Fun fact

I can juggle, I’ve played hockey for 16 years.

Favourite thing about Concordia

My favourite thing about Concordia is the energy on campus, where people are driven and motivated to reach their goals.

Why did you choose Concordia and the John Molson School of Business?

Aside from the incredible women’s hockey program at Concordia, I chose the school because of its unique blend of campuses that blend historic charm with modern facilities, creating an environment that is both beautiful and practical for students. Moreover, I chose the John Molson School of Business because of its incredible reputation as one of the top business schools in the world.

What was your best university experience?

My best university experience was winning multiple national and conference championships with the women’s hockey team. Having the entire school rally behind the team was something truly special to witness and be a part of. It is something I will cherish for the rest of my life.

What does campus life look like for you?

A day at school for me starts at the Loyola campus where I walk from my apartment to Ed Meagher Arena for practice, lift, and recovery sessions. Following class I generally head to the library either at Loyola, or I take the shuttle to the Sir George Williams campus downtown and study there. I might grab a snack before heading to 1-2 classes in the modern MB building. Recently I took a Leadership and Motivation class which I loved. I’m also taking French as an elective! To end the day I take the shuttle back home to the Loyola campus and either study or head to the sports complex to cheer on whatever Stingers team is playing.

Any memorable research or class projects?

For my leadership and motivation class, we came together and organized an event for youth hockey players to meet members of the Stingers women’s hockey team and experience what it is like to be a university varsity athlete.

How have you gained experience outside of the classroom?

Being a member of the Concordia women’s hockey team, I have gained a wealth of experience outside the classroom - from leadership to teamwork, resilience, time management, and learning how to perform under pressure. I have already been able to apply these skills in my academic work, and I’m confident they will carry over into my professional career as well.

What's your advice for new students?

The time in university really does fly by, so take in every single moment! When you are stressed or struggling, lean on your friends because you will all get through it together.

Favourite things about living in Montreal?

Being from a completely different part of Canada, my experience in Montreal has been wonderful. I love the food here, there are so many different restaurants to try and cafes to study in. In the springtime there are sugar shacks where the food is all cooked with maple syrup… I look forward to it every year. One other thing I love about Montreal is that we truly experience all four seasons - the beautiful colours of fall, the sparkle of the snow in the winter and so many activities in the spring and summer, it is truly beautiful here.

What has your experience been like living in a French city as an Anglophone?

Although at times intimidating, my experience living in a French city as an Anglophone has been incredibly rewarding. When I first arrived in Montreal, I knew little French, but after a few classes at Concordia I can engage in most conversations. Furthermore, since most people also speak English, there is comfort in knowing that you can easily switch languages.
