Evridiki Spiliadis

Photography

My explorations are deeply rooted in the longing to return to one's self. Since becoming a mother in 2009, my work primarily investigates the nature of identity and our sense of belonging, shaped at once by our cultural and ethnic heritage as well as the familial stories that define us. Using portraiture, natural and urban landscape and still life photography, as well as the juxtaposition of archival photographs with my own images, I explore themes of memory, displacement and loss. In my artistic practice, I create visual narratives representing the various journeys we embark on: from place to place and within ourselves.
