Molly Bertheaud

Fibres & Material Practices

Why are swans and cranes mostly monogamous? What does it feel like to drop your eggs in a river like a dragonfly or a frog, and have nothing more to do with your progeny? Who are humans, as animals, in these habitats we’ve created?

I learned about industrial knitting and jacquards from my mother in her modern cottage industry. I meld my love of storytelling, sociology, biology, literature, and myth to create images translated through various mediums, from painting to song to industrially knit and hand-embroidered tapestries, which create narratives about love, desire, responsibility, and connection.
