Marcus Bankuti
Marcus is an award-winning journalist and the Managing Editor of The Eastern Door newspaper, where he has been reporting since 2021 on issues that matter to the Kanien’kehá:ka communities of Kahnawà:ke and Kanehsatà:ke.
In this role, he has pursued stories covering politics and governance, the legacy of residential schools, environmental degradation, and many other critical areas.
While at Concordia, Marcus served as the Editor-in-Chief of The Link’s 41st volume and graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a minor in Creative Writing.
Since graduating, Marcus’s work has been acknowledged at the national and regional level, receiving honours such as the Canadian Association of Journalists Community Written Feature Award and the Quebec Community Newspapers Association's Paul Dumont-Frenette Outstanding Journalism Award for journalist of the year.
