Brief Bio

Steven Shaw is a professor in the Department of Education, Concordia University, in Montreal. His research and professional work focuses on the design, development and implementation of technology to support learning and knowledge sharing, in particular at the enterprise scale in large public and private sector organizations. He co-founded the corporation that developed the first "learning content management system", and served as the CLO of Eedo Knowledgeware, which for over a decade furnished the leading edge technology for learning content management, employed by Fortune 500 organizations such as Xerox, Dell, Eli Lily, Boeing and the largest public sector organizations in the US and UK, including US Treasury and Department of Energy and Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Department of Work and Pensions in the UK.

 

He has also consulted with private sector organizations and higher education institutions to develop business cases and blueprints for digital transformation. Recently, he has been involved in a multi-year project to transform training and accreditation in aviation adhering to a competency-based approach, beginning with the development and acceptance of new standards mandated by ICAO and continuing with working groups that have developed concrete implementation models across the different air services disciplines.

 

His areas of expertise include software development, systems implementation, content management, taxonomy development, and design and evaluation of training programs and curricula in professional education.
