Conduct on campus

Concordia values respect, fairness, inclusiveness, and diversity.  If you work or study in the Faculty of Fine Arts and have concerns that touch on these issues, you can bring them forward. Because situations vary and individuals have different needs and comfort levels, a variety of options exist. The following possibilities for acting may be pursued separately or together.

Some concerns can be most effectively and productively addressed directly between the parties involved.  In many situations, a discussion after class may be all that is required.  Or you might consider drafting an email to your instructor or supervisor, explaining that you have a concern about something that has happened, and requesting an in-person meeting to discuss it.  You may request to bring a friend or resource person; student advocacy services are available through the University and the CSU.

2. Discuss your concerns with the department chair or program director

You may choose to raise your concerns with the department chair or program director.  Chairs and program heads are trained on how to respond to concerns and complaints.

3. Discuss your concerns with any of the following members of the university

The Black Perspectives Office resources, connect, and advocates for Black communities, perspectives, initiatives, and scholarship at Concordia University. 

The university takes confidentiality and freedom from reprisal seriously. If you have concerns about these matters, our offices will discuss them with you fully, so that you may make an informed decision before proceeding.
