This friendly workshop will start you building Virtual Reality (VR) experiences quickly and easily. This workshop makes use of the A-frame JavaScript library. Prior knowledge of JavaScript or HTML is NOT required (but it doesn't hurt). By the end of the session you will have created a simple VR environment. An optional second session for sharing VR creations, troubleshooting, demonstrating more advanced features and testing on different hardware will be offered (no further registration is required).

This workshop is preventive in nature and explores the basics of sexual violence. A definition and examples of sexual violence is offered along with discussion about power dynamics and cultural aspects as root causes. Participants will explore concepts of consent, bystander intervention, and supporting survivors. This workshop will provide participants with relevant information and tools for action that are specific to staff and faculty’s experiences. Throughout the module, participants will engage in discussion about these concepts along with compelling scenarios to aid in understanding the nuances of sexual violence and consent. Finally, information on our policies and processes as well as internal and community resources is offered. This workshop is open to all staff and faculty and fulfills the mandatory training requirements for sexual violence awareness and prevention. The deadline to complete training is October 27th, 2025.

Feeling a little stressed? Take a break and come meet the therapy dogs at the Vanier Library! We’re excited to welcome back the therapy dogs on Thursday, October 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in partnership with Health & Wellness Zen Dens. You’ll find them outside of VL-101 (behind the Course Reserves room). Spending a few minutes petting and interacting with the dogs can help you relax and de-stress during the busy midterm season. The dogs are from the Imagine Therapy Dogs organization.

This introductory workshop will provide you with the skills needed to design models for the Sandbox 3D printers. After completing this workshop you will be able to explain the basics of 3D printing and 3D design, design appropriately for 3D printing, modify an existing 3D design, and export a model for 3D design. No prior knowlege of design or 3D printing required. Although not a requirement, we suggest to bring in your own laptop or device for this session. This workshop is open to all.
