Position title: Research Assistant 

Brief description of duties: 

•  Providing research support for projects related to the intersections of Music Therapy,  Disability Studies, and Social Justice 
• Conduct literature, public scholarship, and social justice activism searches  - Organize literature and resources into relevant theme or topic areas 
•  Conduct basic content analysis and/or prepare annotated bibliographies - Manage references and reference lists in a reference manager such as Endnote - Assist with data generation, analysis, and transcription 
• Support the preparation of knowledge dissemination and translation materials - Proofreading/editing 
• Support the preparation of applications (grants, ethics, etc.)  
• Other research-related activities as required 

Qualifications: 

• MA in Creative Arts Therapies - Music Therapy Option is required 
• Certified Music Therapist (MTA from Canadian Association of Music Therapists) is  required 
• Research interests in music therapy and social justice activism is required - Strong organizational and writing skills with attention to detail is required - Knowledge of APA7 manual and other similar publication manuals relevant to the social  sciences is required 
• Ability to work with technology is required 
• Interest in or familiarity with transcription and caption-generating software, such as Otter.AI is strongly preferred 
• Familiarity with bibliographic software, such as Endnote, is also preferred - Lived experience of disability is considered an asset

Salary information and classification:  

• $23.00/hour 
• 174 total contract hours 
• 6 hours per week (work schedule flexible)
• Total contract salary: $4002.00 

Planned start and end date of appointment: November 1, 2021 – May 20, 2022 Work to be conducted remotely.
