Graduate Perspectives is a series of blogposts about the John Molson School of Business graduate programs experience from the perspective of current students and alumni.

This week, we present a video produced by the John Molson MBA Case Competition Committee (CCC) where the CCC team considers what would have been useful to know when they started the program, therein offering advice to new students on what they might expect coming into the John Molson MBA.

For some, choosing to pursue an MBA can be daunting, not to mention the intimidation surrounding the first day of classes. Nevertheless, it is safe to say that, for all incoming MBA students, they know they are embarking on an exciting new adventure.

Accepted students may have many questions: What is the studying environment going to be like? How do I get the most out of the program? What is the best strategy for the first days, weeks, and months into the program? What do I need to know going in?

For all those who may be unsure of what to expect from a prestigious MBA program, the John Molson Case Competition Committee has produced a video with testimonials from its members as they look back on their MBA experience so far and give advice to their younger selves on the things that would have been useful to know when they started the program.

What we wish someone would have told us before starting the MBA is a must see for incoming students. The video provides many invaluable tips and tricks, underlining the point that it is crucial for MBA students to not only understand the many options available to them in the program, but also the variety of approaches students can adopt to ensure that they get the most out of it. The students in the video provide an honest, hindsight view of what it is – and can be - to be a John Molson MBA and your best self.
