Master of Science in Management (MSc)

Tuition & aid

John Molson's research-based masters programs are some of the most affordable of all AACSB-accredited schools in North America because they are highly subsidized by the Quebec government. In addition, the cost of living in Montreal is significantly lower than in most other large North American cities.

Estimated tuition & fees*

Canadian, Quebec residents $7,700
Canadian, rest of Canada (non-Quebec) residents $17,300**

**Upon admission, incoming Canadian thesis-based master's students who were not a resident of Quebec will automatically receive this Out of Province Tuition Fee Reduction award. This award specifically aims to help reduce the tuition fees for out-of-province students, aligning with the Quebec rate.

***International students are required to study full-time to satisfy the requirements of their study permit.

How tuition is paid

For more detailed information, please consult our webpages about Fee payment deadlinesMethods of payment and How fees are billed.

International student tuition exemptions

There are several situations where international students may claim exemptions from the international tuition rate. For full details on eligibility and required supporting documents, please visit Concordia's fee exemptions webpage.

Other costs

Beyond program costs (such as books, stationery and supplies), students should budget for living expenses of approximately $20,000 CAD per year. This figure is based on the standard needs of a single person and includes accommodation, groceries, clothing, public transportation and miscellaneous expenditures.

The cost of books may vary significantly from one course to another. However, buying used books can significantly reduce this expense. Please visit the Concordia bookstore and enter the course number to view course materials and associated costs.

Health insurance for international students

Immigration Quebec regulations require that all international students be covered by a Quebec issued health insurance plan that meets government standards, while studying in Quebec. In keeping with this government directive, Concordia University has negotiated a compulsory health and accident insurance plan with Blue Cross at a competitive cost that all Concordia international students must have. Consequently, personal health insurance plans are not accepted.

Health insurance fees are automatically charged to all international students when registering for courses or when graduate students are Continuing in Program.

Awards and scholarships

Applicants who applied by the February 1st application deadline and have been accepted into the program are automatically considered for Entrance awards. These awards are granted to admitted full-time students based on academic merit, need, and/or the strength of the application. There is no need to fill out any additional paperwork. If you are granted an Entrance award, you will be notified at the same time as your letter of admission (or soon thereafter). We also offer other funding opportunities that accepted students do need to apply for, and that have different purposes and eligibility criteria.

Most funding is only available to full-time students, though there may also be opportunities for part-time students.

Please note that, due to our competitive tuition fee, we have a limited number of scholarships and awards available.

You may consult the Financial Aid and Awards Office website for information on the Quebec Loans & Bursaries program.

Canadian and U.S. students who are considering student loans (also known as government student aid programs) should apply a minimum of six to eight weeks before the start of term to receive their funds on time

There are also many funding opportunities available to international and domestic graduate students enrolled in thesis-based programs. There are external research funding and training programs for students offered by Mitacs, as well as additional awards available to international students studying in Canada. Learn more about federal and provincial scholarshipsspecial entrance awards among many others to support your graduate studies.

Paid positions

John Molson graduate students can apply for Teaching Assistant (TA) and Research Assistant (RA) positions that are posted by the department as early as during their first semester. There is no guarantee of receiving a TA or RA position since, firstly, you need to apply to the job posting and, secondly, hiring is up to the professor.

As awards and paid positions are limited and competed for, we cannot guarantee that you will receive either and recommend that you not count solely on these opportunities to fund your studies and living costs.
