Community Service Initiative

Founded in 2008, the Community Service Initiative (CSI) is a hub for hands-on, impactful community service.

The CSI encourages and promotes community service by linking John Molson School of Business resources with the needs of communities, including organizations in the not-for-profit sector, social enterprises, small businesses, governmental agencies and institutions. 

Vision

To be John Molson’s premier vehicle for experiential learning through community service.

Mission

To develop and implement opportunities for students, faculty, alumni, staff and community agencies to collaborate and build partnerships aimed at learning from each other, while working together for the benefit of society.

Dave McKenzie

Meet the founder, Dave McKenzie

Dave McKenzie has over 30 years of experience volunteering and working with non-profits and in entrepreneurship and small-business management. Dave uses that experience to build relationships in these sectors and create opportunities for students, faculty and staff to share their expertise and provide relevant service while engaging in experiential learning. He has a BA in Sociology from McGill University (1991), a Graduate Diploma in Institutional Administration (1993) and a Master of Arts in Educational Technology from Concordia University (2002). He is a recipient of the 2021 Montreal Community Cares Foundation (MCCF), Community Leadership Award.
