Black Entrepreneurship Training Program 2021 - 2025
In partnership with the Cote-des-Neiges Black Community Association (CDNBCA) Ujamaa Initiative for Black Entrepreneurship (UIBE) and the Desta Black Youth Network (DBYN). Part of the Black Entrepreneurship Program Ecosystem Fund, Government of Canada.
This project provides business readiness training for English-speaking Black entrepreneurs and business owners in Quebec with the goal of supporting them to start, grow and scale their companies.
Included in the program
- Business readiness bootcamps
- Starting your own business: A training program for entrepreneurs and business owners of new startups who have been identified as having the necessary entrepreneurial spirit and a potentially viable business idea to develop their business plan, find the required financing and successfully set up and manage their business
- Customized training workshops: For entrepreneurs and business owners that have been in business a minimum of one year who want to grow.
- Loan-after-care program (loan application processing): Technical support and business counseling for entrepreneurs and business owners that have applied unsuccessfully for a FACE loan and who need assistance to improve their business plans, and/or provide missing information to reapply.
Community Support, Multiculturalism, and Anti-Racism Initiatives (CSMARI)
In partnership with the Desta Black Community Network, the Ujamaa Initiative for Black Entrepreneurship (UIBE) of the Côte-des-Neiges Black Community Association (CDNBCA)
The first edition of Rooted in Success: Highlighting Montreal’s Black Entrepreneurs 2025 calendar is a tribute to Montreal’s dynamic Black anglophone entrepreneurs.
The calendar also features QR codes that link to video capsules showcasing each highlighted entrepreneur. It serves as inspiration and a call for inclusion, illustrating the contribution of Black entrepreneurs in the Quebec and Canadian economy.
Community roundtable
The roundtable provides a forum for executive directors and managers of not-for-profit community organizations to network, share resources and engage in structured dialogue that seeks solutions to common issues and problems. Launched in 2015, membership varies between 25 and 30 members who meet four to six times per year.

- Network, share resources, exchange ideas and work on special projects that benefit the community and society;
- Preferred access to university resources, and access to workshops and guest speakers;
- Collaborate with faculty, students and alumni to provide skilled volunteer placements;
- Provide informed opinions and leadership on community issues via position papers, case studies and community-based action research projects.
