Professor Kirpalani no longer holds an office at JMSB
Dr. V.H.Manek Kirpalani is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Marketing and International Business at John Molson School of Business Concordia University, Montreal, Canada where he also was a member of the Board of Governors. Later he was Director Center of International Business and Education in the College of Business, Bloomsburg University,Pennsylvania, USA. Further he is or has been Visiting Distinguished Professor at the Aalto University School of Economics, Finland, Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Management, University of Warsaw, Poland, Honorary Professor at the University of the West Indies, and Visiting Fellow of Templeton College, Oxford University for a year, Visiting Professor at Pennsylvania State University, University Park, University of Turin, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and others.
Furthermore, he was Project Director for the Canadian Federation of Business School Deans for their national activities in the Canada-China Program, and a Member-at-Large on the Executive Board of the Canadian Consortium of Management Schools. Prior to joining academe, he was Managing Director of an Electrolux AB subsidiary and Manager of a trading company subsidiary of the Swedish Match Company. Later he was an Economist with DuPont.
Dr. Kirpalani has a B.A. Honours and a M.A. from Oxford University, England and a D.Sc. from HEC University of Montreal.
Areas of Expertise
He was a member of the Board of Directors of the American Marketing Association (38,000 members) for four years, and Vice-President and Head of their Global Marketing Division. Further he is a Distinguished Fellow of the Academy of Marketing Science (one of 45), where he was also a Governor and Vice-President. His particular areas of expertise are marketing management and strategy, international business, Born Globals and International Entrepreneurship Strategy
His latest book is a Handbook of Research on International Entrepreneurship Strategy: Improving SME Performance Globally with P.Ghauri., Edward Elgar Publishers, January 2016, and his previous book was a "Handbook of Research on Born Globals" with M. Gabrielsson, for Edward Elgar Publishers, 2012.
He is the author of over 220 publications. These include 22 books and a number of articles in renowned journals such as Industrial Marketing Management, International Business Review, International Journal of Bank Marketing Ivey Business Journal, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Global Marketing, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of International Marketing, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Channels and Journal of Teaching in International Business. Moreover, he is or has been an editorial board member of seven journals
He has participated through his professional career in many external activities in positions of responsibility, especially through the American Marketing Association, the Academy of Marketing Science and the Canadian Consortium of Management Schools. Also he has been Chair, Speaker or Panel Participant at many well-known professional conferences.
