Financial awards for undergraduate students
John Molson Accounting Society Award
These awards are open to students in accountancy who actively participate in the events and services provided by the John Molson Accounting Society (JMAS).
Two JMAS Awards valued at $1,250 will be granted to eligible undergraduate students.
Eligibility
- You must be a full-time student enrolled in a course of study leading to an undergraduate degree in accountancy (i.e., Major in Accountancy) with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- No present or past member of JMAS executive is eligible for this award
- Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents or international students
How to apply
Submit a one-page letter summarizing how you have been positively influenced by your participation in the events and services provided by JMAS.
You must also include your most recent transcript (unofficial Student Record/Transcript from Concordia).
Please submit both documents as a single PDF to Catherine Sarrazin, department assistant, at catherine.sarrazin@concordia.ca.
The application deadline is Monday, March 9, 2026.
Recipients of the JMAS Awards will be informed by the end of the academic year 2025-2026.
George Kanaan Award for the Accountancy Teaching Assistant of the Year
The department is seeking nominations of eligible undergraduate ACCO teaching assistants for the 2025-2026 George Kanaan Award.
The award recipient receives $3,000.
Eligibility
The student must be a teaching assistant in the Department of Accountancy for more than two terms (summer counts as one term) and enrolled in the accountancy major of the Bachelor of Commerce program at the John Molson School of Business.
The selection of the recipient will be made based on the outstanding contributions of the teaching assistant to their respective courses.
Instructors in the Department of Accountancy can nominate eligible ACCO teaching assistants by sending a recommendation letter by email to Catherine Sarrazin at catherine.sarrazin@concordia.ca by Monday, March 9, 2026. The recommendation letter should outline the outstanding contributions and list all TA-ships of the nominee. The recommended students may be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or international students.
