Beatriz Bartolome Herrera is a PhD Candidate in the Film and Moving Image Studies program at Concordia University.She holds an MA in Film Studies from Concordia as well as an MA in Contemporary Arts and Visual Culture from the Autonomous University of Madrid. Her dissertation discusses the historical and cultural implications of the synergistic alliance between the U.S. film industry and the museum in the form of blockbuster movie-themed exhibitions and related cross-promotional events. Funding for her studies has been generously provided by La Caixa foundation, Power Corporation of Canada, the Fondation de Sève, and Concordia’s Faculty of Fine Arts. Beatriz has presented at a number of conferences, including FSAC, SCMS, NECS, Visible Evidence, and has contributed among others to NECSUS the European Journal of Media Studies, Archivos de la Filmoteca, and the the edited collection Star Wars and the History of Transmedia Storytelling (2017). Before stepping into academia she worked at the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid and in the Spanish cinema and TV industries (IMBD profile).

At Concordia she has helped coordinate the activities of the Global Emergent Media Lab (2015-2016), and has served as Graduate Student Representative for the Faculty of Fine Arts while working as an instructor in the Film Studies department. Her research and teaching interests include media industry studies, cultural institutions, cultural theory, film and media history,popular and visual culture, screen arts, and museum studies.
